Fisheries

The fisheries sector encompasses farming, fishing, trade, processing and derivatives for the animal food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and toiletry industries.

It is an important industry for all three of the TIME regions and can bene t from sharing best practice across our borders.

The globalization of fish sales has brought a major challenge through the arrival of low cost products from around the world. We must counter this by adding value, quality and taste to our home stocks.


Improvements could include:

• Developing new fishing and breeding techniques
• Reducing environmental pollution
• Using alternative fuels
• Developing fishing equipment requiring a lower engine power in fishing vessels
• New and improved vessels
• Improved recruitment and business transfer
• Investing in and launching new initiatives

It is the hope of the TIME management team that by fostering cross-border co-operation between fishing operators, suppliers of equipment for the fishing industry and by establishing study groups to related subjects, we can create a first class, harmonious industry which supplies top quality products to consumers and industrial users and within which the operators grow and enjoy increased profitability.
