Port Security and Logistics
There have been many technological advancements in port security and logistics including the installation of systems on containers which send data on locality and goods carried; the creation of automatic management systems for storage and order picking and the development of methods and tools for problem solving.
However, the regions’ ports also face many challenges. In the increasingly sophisticated environment of port logistics, there is a shortage of qualified workers and of young managers. With the increasing size of vessels visiting our ports we need more expertise and more specialist operators in multimodal transportation as well as larger and more technologically advanced storage capacity in port areas. Finally, we have to control the ever increasing costs of our workforces and make better use of renewable energy resources.
There are many companies and technological development centres within the region that can benefit from participating in cross border development clusters and the TIME partners would like to hear from any enterprise or organization interested in co-operating in port security and logistics development initiatives.
